The Pregnancy Bonding Programme is owned and operated by Hands on Babies Ltd, one of the UK’s leading providers of Baby Massage and Baby Yoga Instructor Training.
As one of the UK’s leading Baby Massage and Baby Yoga Instructor Training providers, Hands on Babies have been delivering exemplar training in the field of Attachment and Bonding for over 15 years. In that time, Hands on Babies have partnered with many Local Authorities, Health Trusts, National Charities and Children’s Service Providers to deliver its renowned Bonding and Attachment programmes.
The extensive experience of working with the wide variety of professions that operate in the Prenatal, Antenatal and Family Support sector highlighted a worrying gap in service provision, namely, a lack of support and guidance to ensure positive attachment and bonding at the earliest possible stage i.e During Pregnancy.
It was this service gap and the desire to provide a meaningful, sustainable and effective solution for bonding at the earliest possible stage that drove Hands on Babies’ founder, Catherine Cole to become the inspiration behind the development of the Pregnancy Bonding Programme. Building on Catherine’s experience & passion for developing highly effective Attachment and Bonding programmes, her Award Winning staff and instructor qualifications and her passion for delivering inspiring parent facing sessions, Catherine has sought to develop a unique and innovative programme that will make a real difference to the lives and outcomes of parents and their babies.
Catherine states:
“Over the last four years our meticulous research and review of the existing evidence about pregnancy bonding and life outcomes has led to the development of the UK’s first evidence based Pregnancy Bonding and Attachment Programme that is underpinned by parent facing classes and outputs that make a real and tangible difference to the lives of mums, dads and their babies.”
Hands on Babies began to develop the Pregnancy Bonding Programme in early 2020 and after four years of intensive research & development underpinned by extensive peer review and over 15 years experience in the field of attachment and bonding, we are delighted that the Pregnancy Bonding Programme is now available to bring the gift of bonding and attachment to expectant families across the UK.
From initial concept to early stage roll out of the programme, the objectives, outcomes and approaches have been shaped through extensive peer review. This has involved a wide variety of Pregnancy Professionals including Maternity Support Workers, Antenatal Educators, Perinatal Mental Health Specialists, Doulas, Prenatal Massage and Yoga Instructors, Breastfeeding Consultants, Midwives, Neonatal Nurses, Pregnancy Outreach Workers, and Family Support Workers.
The peer review process has ensured that the programme addresses the evolving needs of expectant parents and empowers professionals to provide bonding and attachment support to parents during the crucial prenatal period.
Each panel member has brought their unique insights to the process. Drawing from their experience and specialised roles has ensured comprehensive and holistic evaluation, feedback and refinement of the programme.
